Digital Presence
Video Communication and Collaboration System
Digital Presence is a video communication and collaboration system with audio and life sized video.
The system can be installed with 2 or 4 screens (or more) for communication between locations. All technology is hidden to the user. At the heart of Digital Presence are software based (embedded Linux with real-time extensions) encoders and decoders (CODECs) based on MPEG-4 combined with audio.
The vendor states that the Digital Presence system is standards based. In addition to using MPEG-4 video compression and ISMA compliant media streams, the system is compatible with control protocols based on the IETF standards (SIP, SDP).
In addition to multi-stream video and audio CODECs, the system is equipped with a content sensitive bandwidth shaper and an application sharing server. The bandwidth shaper allows the user to share presentations or files over the videoconference without--according to the vendor--any effect to video and audio quality, no matter how large or complicated the shared data may be. The application sharing server allows the user to network their laptop with the system, through a wired or wireless connection.
